In this letter, a continuous-wave (CW) continuously wavelength-tunable laser source employing a self-injected Fabry–Pérot laser diode (FP-LD) is achieved and investigated experimentally. Through carefully tuning the fiber Fabry–Pérot tunable filter (FFP-TF) and chip temperature of the FP-LD, 80 $C$ -band International Telecommunication Union (ITU) wavelengths with 50-GHz mode spacing were obtained with a good performance of the output peak power ${>} -$4.74 dBm ($Delta {P}_{max} = 2.40$ dB) and optical sidemode suppression ratio (SMSR) ${>} $41 dB.
