All-solid-state four-mirror Kerr lens mode locked (KLM)nCr:LiScGaAlF6 and three-mirror Cr:YAG femtosecond lasers havenbeen experimentally developed and theoretically analyzed, using annumerical model that takes into account astigmatism, nonlinear xyncoupling, and gain-guiding. For the soft-aperture three-mirror KLMnsystem, the model is extended to include gain saturation andnsoft-aperturing and a new optimization parameter is proposed
