摘要

We propose a wavelet domain diversity combining method to combatnerrors during image transmission on wireless channels. For imagesnrepresented in the wavelet domain, diversity is used to obtain multiplendata streams corresponding to the transmitted image at the receiver.nThese individual image data streams are combined to form a compositenimage with higher perceptual quality. Both uncompressed and compressednimages are considered. The SPIHT algorithm is used for imagencompression. Diversity combining methods for both uncompressed andncompressed images exploit the characteristics of the wavelet transform.nFor compressed images, unequal error protection is employed innconjunction with diversity combining. Simulation results demonstratenthat the quality of the received image can be significantly improved
