CHARTING THE FUTURE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF AIR TRANSPORT AT ICAO AIR TRANSPORT SYMPOSIUM

Although the industry experienced strong passenger traffic growth in 2011 (preliminary figures released by ICAO indicate a 6.4 per cent increase over the previous year in terms of passenger-kilometres performed), there is no doubt that there remain many challenges and issues on the way to sustainability. Against this backdrop, the ICAO Air Transport Symposium (IATS), entitled "Strategies and Tools for Sustainable Air Transport", will take place from 18 to 20 April 2012 at ICAO Headquarters in Montreal, Canada. The Symposium will be held in partnership with the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS).
