Information Needs of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Ttribe Communities in Educational System of Orissa : A Case Study

摘要

This article examines the information needs, information-seeking behavior, and the impact of information use on scheduled caste and scheduled tribe communities in Orissa. The findings reveal that the SC/ST require ready-made/ up-to-date information within them. They are not properly conscious about governmental provisions and facilities and not aware about latest information technology. Some are complaining against bureaucratic attitude of upper caste people and not financially/mentally sound to save them. The various methods for their overall development are described, the role of government departments and NGO's in the state are highlighted. The study also recommends what could be done for them to provide them information on various governmental facilities etc.
