In summertime in the surface layer of water of the Dnieper reservoirs during the period of water bloom caused by blue-green algae, the development of phytoplankton is limited or inhibited by light depending on the value of the total solar radiation. Its inhibition is registered at the total solar radiation of 19.3-19.5 MJ/m~2·day.
