New Data on the Centric Diatoms (Centrophyceae, Bacillariophyta) of the Danube Region of the Black Sea

Paper deals with results of studies of the plankton diatoms of the Danube region of the north-west part of the Black Sea in 2005 and 2007. Species diversity of Centrophyceae has been studied. Systematic position of some centric diatoms was specified taking into account actual taxonomy. 36 species (40 intraspecific taxa) of Centrophyceae of 11 genera were identified, among them 24 new for the considered region and 7 - new for the flora of Ukraine (Actinocyclus normanii, Cyclotella ambigua, C. baltica, C. affinis, Cyclotella sp., Thalassiosira gessneri, Thalassiosira sp.). Domination of the small-sized diatoms of the genera Skeletonema and Thalassiosira was revealed.
