Nalcor Energy has selected Barnard-Pen-necon JV Ltd. as the preferred contractor for the construction of the north and south dams at the 824-MW Muskrat Falls project in Newfoundland and Labrador. In late August, Nalcor said Barnard-Pen-necon could begin site preparation work within weeks, pending negotiations with Nalcor, in preparation for the dams' construction beginning in 2017.
