The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy announced in December that Portland, Ore.-based AquaHarmonics will re- ceive US$1.5 million as the first place winner of the Wave Energy Prize competition. Two California-based contestants -CalWave Power Technologies out of Berkley and Waveswing America in Sacramento - were awarded second and third place, respectively, with $500,000 and 1250,000 in cash prizes.
