China's Xiangjiaba hydropower project is on course to start generating power in 2012, according to local sources.rnThe plant is situated on the Jinshajiang River on the border between Yibin County and Shuifu County in Yunnan Province, in southwestern China. At a cost of about 43.4 billion yuan (US$6.3 billion), the finished project is expected to have a capacity of at least 6,000 MW.
