According to Toshiba Corp. spokesperson Ken Shinjo, the company will construct a 25 billion Yen ($273 million) to build a new lithium-ion EV battery plant in Kashiwazaki, Niiga-ta Prefecture. Starting in 201, the new facility will have an initial capacity of 500,000 cells per month. This will more than quadruple Toshiba's current 150,000 cells per month capacity.
