摘要

Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski (D-Md.) introduced a HOPE VI reauthorization bill on July 27 which would require partnerships with local schools as part of a strategy to encourage economic self-sufficiency, place a renewed emphasis on the effective relocation of residents, and drop the 15 percent limit on use of grant funds to provide supportive services. The bill would add new criteria for the selection of grantees, including the ability of a PHA to meet project timelines. The bill would also codify the use of performance benchmarks to be set by the PHA in consultation with HUD. Benchmarks are currently a HUD administrative requirement.
