San Diego Considers Plan For Conversion of Public Housing To Non-Federal Rental Units

To head off a potential funding crisis for its public housing portfolio, the San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) is developing a plan to provide Section 8 vouchers for tenants in its 1,366 public housing units and to convert the rental units to non-tederal public housing affordable to families at a varying range of affordability up to 80 percent of area median income (AMI), currently $55,000 for a family of four.
