The availability of low-income housing tax credit equity is likely to shrink further in 2009 despite industry efforts to increase the number of investors, leaving projects struggling to fill funding gaps, according to industry members. Bob Moss, senior vice president and director of originations for affordable housing for Boston Capital, a national syndicator, told a recent American Bar Association (ABA) teleconference that even though the tax credit program will survive, "the existence of many traditional partners, syndication firms, developer entities, and housing finance agencies will be tested in 2009."
