Housing affordability remains near its highest level in the 18-year history of the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI), according to the second-quarter 2009 report released by NAHB.rnThe HOI showed that 72.3 percent of all new and existing homes sold during the quarter were affordable to families earning the national median income of $64,000, down slightly from the record high of 72.5 percent in the first quarter and up from 55.0 percent in the second quarter of 2008.
