California Governor Proposes to Eliminate Redevelopment Agencies As Part of Plan to Balance Budget

California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) has proposed to eliminate local redevelopment agencies and end state tax benefits for enterprise zones as part of a 2011-2012 budget plan to wipe out an estimated 18-month deficit of $25.4 billion.
