摘要

Renters are facing record high affordability problems, with one in four, or 10.1 million households, paying more than half of their income on rent and utilities and an additional 26.2 percent paying 30 to 50 percent, according to a new report from the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies. "In the last decade rental housing affordability problems went through the roof, and these affordability problems are marching up the income scale," said Joint Center Managing Director Eric S. Belsky. "In real terms, it means more people have less money to spend on household necessities such as food, health care, or savings."
