Legislation that would require the collection of information on investments in Opportunity Zones (OZs) has been introduced by a group of four U.S. senators-Sens. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Tim Scott (R-SC), Maggie Hassan (D-NH), and Todd Young (R-IN). The bipartisan bill, S. 1344, would require the Secretary of the Treasury to collect information on investments held by Qualified Opportunity Funds (QOFs), including: 1. the number of QOFs; 2. the amount of assets held in QOFs; 3. the composition of QOFs by asset class; 4. the percentage of OZs designated that have received QOF investments; and 5. the impacts and outcomes on economic indicators, including job creation, poverty reduction, new business starts, and other metrics as determined by the Secretary.
