As someone who’s allergicto clutter, having the backentrance of Edgewood Halllead straight into the kitchenwas a no-go. Our solution:Transform part of the roominto a mudroom for corrallingcoats, shoes, and dog gear.Laying down a real brick floorwould have meant ripping upthe subfloor to keep it level withthe kitchen floor (a majorexpense), so we used Brick-Ittiles instead-they’re madefrom sliced bricks and don’trequire a mason to install.Double hooks and cabinetsprovide all the storage we need. And because we wanted thespace to feel more like a gardenroom than your typically blahmudroom, we tricked it outwith decorative details likepretty patterned wallpaperand window treatmentsfrom Twigs. The final touch:Sherwin-Williams’s highglossLounge Green paint tobring the outside in.
