Luxury should be Pierre-Yves Rochon's middle name. The Parisian designer has created more than 150 luxe spaces across the world for an impressive client list including Accor, Sofitel, Carlton, Intercontinental, Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Joel Robuchon, and Alain Ducasse, to name a few. Now, almost 30 years since founding his 55-person firm, the travel lover is still involved in every project. "I have the privilege of working on beautiful projects and, to be honest, if I am not excited about a project, if a project does not make me dream, I cannot "work on it," he says.rnAnd he has no signs of slowing down. He recently opened an office in Chicago (where his company's new parent company Perkins + Will is based) and projects on the boards include the Savoy in London, Pour Seasons in Chicago, Florence, and Cairo, and two Hotel Ritz locations in Paris and Madrid. Even with so much on his plate, Rochon takes a few minutes to discuss his love of hospitality, why 7-Star hotels are silly, and the importance of learning something new everyday.
