摘要

The Department of Defense has awarded $1.6 million to a Texas company to further develop an air purification system that can protect against anthrax and other air contaminants that could be released during a biological terrorist attack. The funding for further development of the PhotoScrub system, invented by Texas-based Applied Nanotech, Inc., comes as part of the Fiscal Year 2008 Defense Appropriations Act, which the President signed into law earlier this month. The money will be used to build a prototype of the PhotoScrub that can be integrated into standard HVAC systems. "What we did with the PhotoScrub has much importance to both DoD and homeland security," Applied Nanotech CEO Zvi Yaniv told HD&S Monitor last week.
