But for children whose families live with distress and despair stemming from poverty, domestic abuse, natural disasters or war, such possessions are rare - and sometimes non-existent.rnBringing smiles and a glimmer of hope to these families, though, is the global charity Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc., a New York-based non-profit organization comprised of leading retailers, manufacturers and licensors of children's and youth products and local partner agencies throughout communities and countries around the world. The mission of K.I.D.S. is simple, but vital: Provide new essentials such as clothing, shoes, educational toys and books to improve the everyday lives of children in need.
