Shopko's Hometown format, developed to serve smaller rural communities, opened five stores this month in three states. The communities include St. Peter, Minn.; Afton, Wyo.; and Ellsworth, Tomahawk and Winneconne, Wis. With the new units, the Shopko Hometown format accounts for 180 units. The company also operates 134 Shopko stores in small to mid-sized cities; five Shopko Express Rx stores, a neighborhood drugstore concept; seven Shopko Pharmacy locations; and a full online store.
