Bath category sales made gains at retail despite plenty of challenges. Total retail sales for bath towels, rugs and accessories rang in at $4.99 billion, up 2.9% from $4.85 billion in 2017. While tariffs started kicking in late in the year, they had some impact in 2018. "It's been more of a problem in 2019. But if we knew then what we know now we might have made some different choices," said Jaimee Groves, director of sourcing and global supply chain, Saturday Knight Ltd. "We are challenged daily on how to mitigate the costs and avoid passing them on to our customers and the end consumer. We look at using different mixtures and materials, and other ways to reduce the impact."
