Spring was definitely in the air as Greenland Home Fashions debuted 50 to 60 new bedding looks at New York Home Fashions Market. There were plenty of pastels and prints, including butterflies and florals, said Sandra Yang, marketing manager, as well as feminine touches such as ruching, ruffle trim and embroidery. The new items come from its cotton-rich Greenland Home and its lower cost microfiber Barefoot Bungalow brands. "We've heard customers asking for texture," she said, and that has been added to both printed and some solid offerings. Among the dominant themes for its three-piece quilt and sham sets, said vice president Spencer Rogers, are Coastal, Southwest and Lodge, which are expressed in digitally printed patterns. Digital printing, he explained, "allows us to be more creative," doing larger, photo-real images and expanding the color palette beyond rotary printing's 12 hues. Greenland is coordinating many of the new offerings with throws, window treatments and shower curtains, he added, and even some furniture protectors and decorative pillows. Additional themes in Greenland's collection are Farmhouse and Millennial Pastels, with the latter going beyond pink and into a broader, yet still soothing color palette. Greenland's take on Farmhouse, said Rogers and Yang, is being presented through calico, pinstripes, gingham and denim in muted, neutral shades of gray and beige with pops of color such as yellow and blue.
