Peking Expands Ayesha Curry Line

Building on the successful launch of the Ayesha Curry licensed line last fall, Peking Handicraft is rolling out new bed ensembles featuring comforters/duvets and quilts. Curry, who has more than six million followers on Instagram, likes to poll her fan base to see what styles resonate with them, explained Carol Antone, VP-creative services for Peking. A textured stripe pattern in natural and ivory with a black boucle yarn running through it was one of the items that rated well, she said, and is being included in Curry's new collection. Other items under the Curry brand feature soft, gray flannel herringbone with a touch of a mustard color; a casual gray chambray and plum combination; and a textured print in seaglass with stripes. At last month's New York Home Fashions Market, Peking also introduced three new top-of-bed items and six quilts from Vera Bradley. Color combinations include gray and blush and gray and burgundy. "There are more neutral colors, but it's still quintessential Vera," said Antone. A new Christmas quilt will sport polar bears, while a Mother's Day quilt features florals. Among Peking's own lines, the company spotlighted textured solids in natural, flax, seaglass and mustard shades. "Color is coming back," she said. "Right now it's gray with a bit of color, but by September, we'll be back in color in a big way."
