THE CHINA SYNDROME

MMy recent trip to China in March was my strangest ever - and even more enlightening than my first visit many moons ago. For one thing, I ran into more friends from the industry than I ever had before. The elevator opened in one city and there was James Mod-er. I stepped up to the breakfast buffet in another city and ran into Steve Nadell of Troy Lighting. The next day, I saw David Liftman of Hudson Valley Lighting, and on and on.rnFor me, every trip has been an education and has held its own surprises. This time, one of the more noticeable was the thickening air. I have found the atmosphere a little worse every time I come back. I was under the impression that the powers that be were cleaning it up for this summer's Olympic Games.
