It is possible to recover cellulose and xylan in yields more than 90% and 80%, respectively, from several ILs by ethanol. Glucose and xylose cannot be recovered by precipitation.rnAccordingly, the anti-solvent method is suitable only for the recovery of compounds with a relatively high molecular weight. As a consequence, polymeric carbohydrates should be recovered from ILs as soon as possible because their degradation products with low molecular weight are rarely recovered. Ethanol (boiling point 78℃) has advantages as an anti-solvent because it gives rise to high yields and can be easily recovered from the ILs by distillation.
