At a ceremony at the Dairy Event, Robert and Elaine Butterfield's Ingleview herd was crowned Premier Pedigree Herd of 2004, having carried off the Northern Region prize for the second year in succession. A long-established Yorkshire family business, farming entirely in the Less Favoured Area, the Butterfield's farm at Linghaw Farm, Bentham in the shadow of Ingleborough - perhaps the best known of the famous Yorkshire Dales Three Peaks. First registered as pedigree Friesian in 1960 by Robert's parents Richard and Annie, the herd was dramatically restructured in 1985 with a move to a more Holstein-type of animal.Today it numbers some 105 milkers averaging 8300 kg at 3.86% fat, 3.13% protein, with fully 40% heifers.
