Less dead men walking

Word on the street is that the Depart-ment of Transport will change the way Safety Camera Partnerships are funded to cut the link between revenue and prosecutions. Not before time, as far as I'm concerned. I am actually a great supporter of cameras. I was the minister who blessed the first of them on Twickenham Bridge in South West London almost a decade ago. It was a site which had previously suffered a fatality a year, almost without fail. As far as I know there has not been a single road death there since. Talk about ten otherwise dead men walking at that one site alone, and that's pretty impressive stuff.
