The construction skills Tgap is not going away any time soon. According to the Construction Industry Training Board's (CITB) latest Construction Skills Network report, more than 35,000 workers need to be hired each year to meet the UK's development needs. With Britain's departure from the EU looming, we need to find new ways of boosting home-grown talent. The highways sector is at the coalface of this challenge. Infrastructure projects are set to account for around 45% of construction's growth to 2021, with a record £500bn of projects planned under the Government's National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline. Meeting this demand will require a significant and sustained recruitment drive by the highways industry.
