They say good things come to those who wait...though you may be waiting quite a while sometimes if you are a SME looking to get paid. A common criticism is that some big companies, contracting out to their supply chain, try to get away with payment terms of 90 days or more. According to figures from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, SMEs are currently owed £26.3bn in overdue payments.
