Like many others, I welcomed Miles Henslow's brave decision to launch a hi-fi magazine in June 1956; the growth of high fidelity as a hobby had begun around 1948 with many ex-servicemen, like myself, keen to combine their recently acquired knowledge of electronics with a love of music. But things took several years to hot up.
