Computers no longer need them and neither do mobile phones, so why do the majority of hi-fi systems still carry signals using wires? Wouldn't it be nice to get rid of connecting wires? But infra-red links only work if the receiver can see the transmitter, and the link drops if someone crosses the beam. FM wireless suffers from hiss and interference.
