Useful accessories versus all mod cons

Some years ago, I gave up choosing and writing about the candidates for the Hi-Fi News Accessories Club. The accessories were accompanied by far too much bullshit even for a market as gullible as audio. Yes, I - like many of you - sampled the wares of (alphabetically) A.R.T., Belt, Golden Sound, Harmonix, RATA, Shakti, Tice and dozens of others. Some were legit, some were comically bogus; I'll let you decide which was which. But Kierkegaardian leaps of faith ceased to be an option after I realised that, overall, the charlatans outnumbered the righteous. So I drew the line at Shun Mook, never looked back, and I have been a much more balanced individual ever since.
