The Tannoy Dual Concentric series of loudspeakers has been in continuous production since 1947. Steve Harris looks back at this enduring line of speakers with World War Ⅱ origins. If longevity is the hallmark of a true classic, Tannoy has got them all beat. None of the Methuselahs of audio - the SME 3009 tonearm, the Linn LP12 turntable or the Quad ESL-63 for example - can compete with the Tannoy Dual Concentric loudspeaker, in continuous production - developed over the decades, appearing in many different cabinet designs, but unchanged in basic principle - since 1947.
