Conrad-Johnson's current top of the line pre-amp, the ACT2. has quickly established a reference-grade reputation. At £13,000, however, it was inevitable that a leaner, meaner and more affordable version would emerge. Here it is, the CT5, priced £7450. An even cheaper model, the CT6 (£4500) will soon be launched. The new CT series is founded on the proprietary Conrad-Johnson single-stage, single triode topology with zero-feedback. This has proven to be a winner for the company, as the technique manages to combine many of the virtues of solid-state and tube technology in one unit.
