While mulling over the events of the year - the global recession putting the brakes on R&D in audio, the reluctance of big brand record companies to embrace Blu-ray as a new carrier and our own root-and-branch re-design of Hi-Fi News - my attention was diverted by news of the BBC's Tomorrow's World. You remember - the popular TV programme that inadvertently signalled the death knell for new and emerging technologies. Remember the unknown Star Trek extra in the red vest who was duty bound to get zapped the moment he transported to the surface of a new planet? That was the effect TW allegedly had on new ideas.
