Not to be outdone by its Denon stablemate (Marantz and Denon have been owned by the same parent company for several years), Marantz has announced a flagship 'almost universal' Blu-ray player -the £5500 UD9004.rnWeighing almost 20kg it boasts battleship contruction, incorporating a three-section copper-plated chassis that separates audio, video and power circuits to shield all sensitive audio components. Marantz says the UD9004's audio section is derived from the company's flagship SA-7S1 Super Audio CD player and comprises four separate circuit boards to avoid crosstalk, including two dedicated boards for the balanced XLR outputs.
