It opens with 'Underdog', a smudgy variation on U2's late '80s widescreen sound, interlaced with glitchy elements as a concession to contemporary musical thinking. This track sets the scene for everything that follows. 'Fire', swerves from Doorsy blues to gospel wailing, underpinned with a cliched disco bassline. 'Vlad The Impaler' boasts a splendidly tortuous bassline and, in its stride, becomes a relentlessly claustrophobic dance groove.
