'Poignant' doesn't begin to cover it: this November saw my first visit to SME since the passing of Alastair Robertson-Aikman in 2006, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Part of me was confident that it had been business as usual, but - equally - a part of me knew that SME's tonearm and turntable manufacturing was entirely AR-A's baby. And Cameron, his son, was not exactly an audiophile. But Cameron swept away all fears, and I knew immediately that SME was in good hands. Within seconds of my arrival, CR-A was telling me about the legendary Music Room, and how 'one of the Quad panels had mysteriously developed a hole this morning.
