I never used to believe in aliens. But one overcast day in September 1987,1 was introduced to Jeffry Hyman, a creature of barely humanoid demeanour, in the downtown New York offices of Sire Records. It's not that I didn't exactly not believe, you understand; it's just that I wasn't, y'know, absolutely sure. Jeffry changed all that. Official records had him born in May 1951 in Forest Hills, Queens, but pretty much all the evidence in front of my eyes challenged those facts.
