Even with half speed cutting, the need to copy from tape to disc inevitably sapped some quality from the master. So in the 1970s the audiophile industry again looked back, even further, to the pre-tape days when recordings had to be cut direct to disc.rnThis method sees the studio sound mixed live and'fed direct to the disc cutting lathe. There is no quality loss but also no opportunity for editing.
