I would like to thank both Paul Miller and John Bamford for their extensive review of the QBD76HD DAC in the September issue of Hi-Fi News. However, as you pointed out, there were some issues with the HD USB input that were of serious concern to us. After investigating your test results further this led us to examine what could be going on with the HD USB input to give such spurious results. Put very simply, the design requires I2S to S/PDIF conversion and it is in this process that we believe the problem to have occurred. There is an emphasis flag line that should indicate whether emphasis is being used or not, but unfortunately this information has been omitted from the applications note and design information we have.
