As is often the case with CD players equipped with tube-based output stages, the Cayin CDT-17A's measured performance is a tale of two technologies. On the one hand, its digital performance is largely determined by the implementation of Burr-Brown's PCM 1792 DACs, one stereo chip used in differential mode per channel. The 114dB A-wtd S/N ratio is first-class and the 3.65V balanced output healthy enough despite being sourced from a disappointingly high 1.2-3.3kohm impedance.
