Indeed, vinyl remained the format of choice for the alt-rock indie crowd and the UK LP [WX 488] shifted many thousands of copies. Needless to say, it's not so difficult to track down, and you should be able to grab a top-notch secondhand copy, complete with inner lyric sleeve, for ￡7 or less. A note in praise of the LP: the sequencing of Automatic For The People works best across two sides of vinyl, not least with the blissed-out denouement of 'Find The River'. Is this the best rock album-closer ever?
