The first release on UK independent label Radar Records [Rad 1 ], Jesus of Cool hit the shops in March 1978, reflecting all the energy, rebelliousness and cynicism of the new wave movement. Like his label-mate Elvis Costello, Lowe was at the more cerebral end of punk, and more than most of his contemporaries was already a fairly seasoned muso, having cut his teeth as a country-rocker for many years before making his mark at the vanguard of this new British cultural explosion.
