In terms of reputation, The Stone Roses' debut album is pretty much untouchable: it is broadly viewed as a fully-realised work of genius that frequently tops many lists of the best records of all time. However, there is a growing body of opinion, especially among a hardcore of aficionados, that the band's overlooked second album is actually the one that may better stand the test of time. It's a view I have some sympathy with after listening again to Second Coming [Universal, Back To Black].
