Despite a quiet Thursday, and a Sunday hampered by a Milan decree that no private cars were allowed on the roads, Milan's September TOP Audio event was packed on two of its four days. And I mean packed: the usual hard-core audiophiles, as well as families, girlfriends, wives, kids. And the appeal is easy to comprehend. This show, to the best of its ability and the hotel's layout, wisely segregates exhibitors by type. A rotunda housed cars with OTT systems, a huge hall had stands ranging from 3D TV to static valve amp displays, the software vendors were grouped in one hall, the high-end purists had the hotel floors, etc.
