It's early September as I write this - the calm before the storm. The storm itself? The run of hi-fi shows that continues to astonish me with its tenacity. By rights, shows should have died along with countless other establishments and pursuits rendered unnecessary by the internet. Then again, there's something ineffably 'real' about touching and seeing new hardware, to augment the reviews that guide you through the chaos. Note that I wrote 'seeing and touching', but not 'hearing' nor 'listening to'.
